Ideas for a Creative Ceremony
- Discuss with the officiant which portions of the wedding ceremony, if any, may be changed.
- Include both sets of parents in the processional
- Have the groom meet you half-way down the aisle
- When the officiant asks “Who blesses this marriage?” have both sets of parents or all the guests respond with “We do”
- Write your own vows. Perhaps keep you vows secret from one another until the wedding day.
- Vows themselves should only take two or three minutes to recite or repeat to one another. You can add a special poem or prayer prior to saying your vows or have a friend or family member read it.
- Involve children from previous marriage in the ceremonies.
- For small intimate ceremonies, the guests can join you at the altar or form a semicircle around you.
- Pass out a single rose to each guests or a candle for an evening ceremony.
- Hire a hand-bell choir.
